SANTIAGO, March 16 (Xinhua) -- Chilean President Sebastian Pinera and his Argentine counterpart Cristina Fernandez signed here Friday six agreements to deepen integration of their countries.

"The agreements we have signed are part of the long way we have been building since long time ago" toward integration, Fernandez noted after the signing ceremony.

The accords cover bilateral cooperation in the fields of medicine development, policing and border control. The two sides also agreed to mutually recognize professional degrees and open part of their borders.

Many people think the Andes mountain range separates Chile and Argentina, said Pinera, but "we want to make it a point of unity" and achieve "total and definite integration."
