Bolivia Willing To Resume Dialogue With Chile On Sea Dispute

Bolivia Willing To Resume Dialogue With Chile On Sea Dispute

LA PAZ, Nov 12 (BERNAMA-NNN-PRENSA LATINA) -- Bolivia Monday expressed its readiness to resume dialogue with Chile, as long as it involves the discussion on its longstanding demand for an outlet to the sea outlet and the return of occupied coastal territories.

Speaking at a press conference in the southern city of Sucre, President Evo Morales said that the possibility of rapprochement will be based on Santiago's willingness to start talks based on results rather than "a dialogue of the deaf".

"We are open to dialogue; we don' have any problem with that, but we would like a dialogue with results, and not a dialogue of the deaf," he said.

Morales said the maritime claim submitted by his country to the International Court of Justice in The Hague in April does not rule out the dialogue option, but he said that Chile must present a proposal to offer Bolivia a sovereign outlet to the sea.
