Court Rules Monsanto Construction is Unconstitutional in Malvinas, Argentina

Excellent news from Malvinas Argentina! The Chamber of Labor has issued a court ruling today upholding an injunction that was filed in September 2012 by Malvinas Lucha por la Vida effectively paralyzing construction on the new Monsanto plant.

We reported in October that legal proceedings were underway to stop the construction of the new Monsanto plant in Cordoba province. The project was initially approved by the CTI (Technical Interdisciplinary Commission). Attorney Raúl Montenegro for Malvinas Lucha por la Vida stated in October:

“We have filed a criminal complaint to inform the prosecutor of certain irregularities in violation of environmental law that have occurred in the heart of the Ministry of the Environment which is involved with authorizations of projects.”

The ongoing blockade has served to halt ongoing construction while they wait for the legal system to take its course. Today’s outcome is a victory in the right direction but Sofia Gatica representing Madres de Ituzaingo Anexo has said the blockade will continue now that they have advanced their claim while they wait for the results of the environmental impact study and public referendum.

has to be one of the nastiest slurs any morally depraved group could sling at the morally awakened caretakers of their homes, their families, their countries, their world.

Take a hint, Monsanto. Stop molesting the living beings of this world. It doesn't belong to you. [/center]
