Judge that Favored Bogota Mayor Requests Protection
Bogota, Jan 18 (Prensa Latina) Colombian Judge Jose Maria Armenta requested urgent protection measures, due to threatens after the decision that led to order temporary suspension of the verdict by the Attorney General''s Office to dismiss from his post and disqualify Bogota''s Mayor Gustavo Petro.
In his report, Armenta said that threatens against him and his family have circulated even in social networks, and entail danger to his wife Cecilia Calderon and his daughter.
Armenta had reported before verbal attacks against his spouse, director of Fixed Assets of the Aqueduct and Sewer System Company of the city, from where she had to leave escorted on Tuesday. Cundinamarca's Court President Camilo Perdomo started to process immediately the judge's request, due to its seriousness, and notified the Superior Council of the Judiciary and the Protection Unit of it, for them to adopt the relevant measures to guarantee the judge's security and that of his family.
Attorney General Alejandro Ordoñez ordered on January 13 dismissing from his post and disqualifying the city's mayor to hold public offices for 15 years, due to supposed irregularities in implementing a new urban sanitary system that delayed garbage collection in the capital several days.
