Colombia's Supreme Court overturned the jail sentence of three alleged FARC members reportedly involved in the 1999 siege of a town in the western part of the country.

The three alleged guerrillas had been sentenced to 38 years in prison for their role in the attack of the town of Dolores in the department of Tolima.

The decision also revoked the arrest warrants of 27 others supposedly involved in the siege that killed two people. Late FARC leader Guillermo Leon Saens Vargas, alias "Alfonso Cano" was among those wanted.

The Supreme Court made the ruling after determining the case suffered from serious irregularities and negligence on the part of the public defender.
