Venezuela's Catholic Church accuse the government of trying to impose a totalitarian regime

http://www.globalpost.com/dispatch/news/regions/americas/venezuela/140402/venezuelas-roman-catholic-church-accused-the-governm

The Roman Catholic Church in Venezuela on Wednesday accused the leftist government of President Nicolas Maduro of seeking to impose a "totalitarian government," blaming it for the protests shaking the country.

Monsignor Diego Padron, the president of the conference of bishops, denounced the abuse of force, torture of detained protesters, and the persecution of opposition mayors and lawmakers.

"The government is mistaken in wanting to resolve the crisis by force. Repression is not the way to go," he said.

The protests were caused, he said, by "the attempt by the official party and the authorities of the Republic to install the so-called Plan of the Fatherland, behind which hides the imposition of a totalitarian government."

It's flat out obvious, but it's probably helpful to the very religious in the nation to hear it from the monsignor himself.

"Plan of the Fatherland." Just "ugh!"

"Take loans up the wazoo from China, AND sell your oil to them at five bucks a barrel so you can't get full price from others; waste your treasure on dumbass deals, and give tons of it away to Cuba and cooperative neighbors so they won't call you out at the OAS."

It's not even ideology at this point in time...it's just that Maduro is blazingly, stunningly, INCOMPETENT.
