Colombia ex-leader told to back up allegations

BOGOTA, Colombia (AP) The office of Colombia's top prosecutor jumped into a presidential feud between a past and current president on Sunday, summoning Alvaro Uribe to substantiate suggestions that drug money went into the campaign of current President Juan Manuel Santos.
A statement issued by the office says Uribe should appear Monday and show any evidence he has to support his call for an investigation into whether Santos' 2010 election campaign received money from drug traffickers.
Uribe was referring to drug trafficker's allegations that campaign strategist Juan Jose Rendon received $12 million from drug lords to negotiate terms of their surrender. Rendon denies the allegation, but the controversy led him to resign from Santos' campaign for re-election on May 25.
Santos had served as defense minister under Uribe, but the two have feuded over Santos' peace negotiations with leftist rebels.
