Hostage situation over in downtown Caracas (English version related to other story)

The hostage taking in the Manfredi building, downtown Caracas, ended at around 2:30 pm on Tuesday. The situation included shootouts between police officers and suspected members of pro-government groups known as "colectivos."

It is expected that in the coming hours the Minister of Interior and Justice Miguel Rodriguez Torres offered statements about the confrontation registered parking building where until a few months ago lived homeless families.

The Scientific, Criminal and Forensic Investigation Agency (Cicpc) arrested at least eight people involved in the clash. Sources said two police officers had been taken as hostages.



Jose Odreman was killed during the confrontation and was the leader of the 5th de Marzo colectivo (paramilitary) group. He is the bald one pictured with some friends including the recently deceased Robert Serra.
