Paraguay: 10 Days of Mobilization Against Privatization Bill
Published 27 May 2015 (3 hours 48 minutes ago)

Demonstrators concerned that the law intends to privatize public services including health, and education.

Thousands of Paraguayan activists and farmers mobilized across the country for the 10th consecutive day on Wednesday, demanding authorities to repeal the bill of public-private partnerships (APP).

The APP legislation has received widespread condemnation from public-sector workers and civil society organizations, concerned that the law intends to privatize public services including health, and education.

In March 2014, workers launched the country’s first general strike in 20 years demanding greater labor protections, higher wages and a stronger social welfare system.
