Pope Francis Admits Mediation in Colombian Peace Process

Pope Francis Admits Mediation in Colombian Peace Process

Rome, Sep 28 (Prensa Latina) Pope Francis admitted today his attempts to mediate in the peace process between the government and the guerrilla Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia-People's Army (FARC-EP), after his visits to Cuba and the United States.
I am very happy, I always wanted that. I spoke twice with President Juan Manuel Santos, and not only me. The Holy See tried to help as it could, said the High Pontiff alluding to the commitment announced in Havana to create a judicial mechanism.

The FARC-EP and the Colombian executive pacted in the Cuban capital a mechanism to attend cases of war crimes, violations, kidnappings and other crimes committed over more than half a century of conflict in the South American state.
