Colombia's Paramilitary-Linked Politicians Want in on Transitional Justice Peace Deal

The para-politicians aided paramilitary groups, which have been responsible for much of the violence and brutal killings in Colombia over the years.
Colombia's para-politicians want in on the country's peace process, now that the government of Colombia and the FARC (Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia) guerrillas have come to an agreement on transitional justice.
Colombian Inspector General Alejandro Ordoñez denied the request Monday by former para-politician Rocio Arias, who argued that the transitional justice agreement should apply to her and dozens of other convicted congress members to access political amnesty. The agreement came out of the current peace talks between the FARC and the government, which have been ongoing in Havana, Cuba since 2012, in attempts to put an end to the over 50 years of armed conflict in the country.
Ordoñez almost immediately resounded with a firm no saying that such fair concessions to the para-politicians could not be permitted.
