Argentina: Anchor Cries on Live Television Over Mass Dismissals

Argentina: Anchor Cries on Live Television Over Mass Dismissals

A protest against the reforms of President Macri.

The channel is firing 118 employees out of the total 160, the latest in a series of massive media dismissals under the new president.

An Argentine anchor could not finish her sentence as she started crying while speaking about the massive dismissals that affected over 100 workers of the CN23 television channel during the live broadcast of her news bulletin.

Sol Urroz, anchor at local TV channel CN23, was announcing the recent dismissal of 118 out of the total 160 employees of the channel.

“We are still going through the binding negotiation process until tomorrow; workers and employers will meet at the Work Ministry in a bid to find a solution,” she said.

“From this humble place, (we express) our solidarity to all our comrades that have been dismissed. Hopefully a solution will soon be found and we will be able to start off Monday like any other. Please apologize,” she added before tears started pouring and forced programmers to launch the commercial break.
