Another Political Activist Gunned Down in Colombia

The latest murder marks a surge in killings targeting Colombian political activists.
Colombian Human Rights activist Milton Yesid Escobar Rodríguez was shot dead on Thursday evening, making him the latest victim in a recent surge of assassinations targeting political activists.
“Milton Escobar was assassinated in the town of Arauquita, outside of the headquarters of the CPDH,” the left-wing Patriotic Union (UP) party confirmed via its official Twitter account on Thursday.
According to witnesses, Escobar, who was an active member of the UP, was shot in cold blood by two unidentified gunmen, outside the regional office headquarters of The Permanent Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CPDH).
Local police authorities have yet make any arrests in connection with Thursday's brutal murder.
