Fidel Castro dies at age 90

Fidel Castro, the Cuban revolutionary leader who built a communist state on the doorstep of the United States, has died aged 90.

Raul Castro, Fidel's brother and current president of Cuba, announced his death on state television early on Saturday.

Nothing more to say, really. I doubt anything significant will change in Cuba other than maybe adding a new national holiday (as long as the communist party keeps ruling, that is).

He was quickly stripped of his naivete about how this country would respond to his new government and turned to the Soviets for protection against his Northern neighbors.
