NEWS YORK, June 7 (Bernama) -- The ongoing five-day United Nations Ocean Conference, as the large gathering of world leaders, politicians, environmentalists and ocean experts under the UN auspices in New York is being called, is also turning out to be a platform for some to vent their anger and frustration against the US, following the announcement by US President Donald Trump to withdraw from the painstakingly hammered out agreement of Paris against climate change.
One of the outspoken speakers at the conference was Bolivian President Evo Morales who, on Monday, depicted the United States as the "main threat to Mother Earth".
Without mincing his words, Morales described the US as "one of the world's main polluters", adding that by withdrawing from the Paris accord, Washington was " turning the back on multilateralism and attempting to deny a future to upcoming generations".
Those factors, he emphasized, had made the U.S. the "main threat to Mother Earth and to life itself".
