Residents of Chavez hometown in Venezuela throw stones, burn his statue

Oleg Kostko / photo: @AndresECE / 22 Mar 2018.- Inhabitants of Sabaneta, who were enraged after spending the night of this Wednesday and early Thursday without electricity, stoned and burned a statue of the deceased ex-president Hugo Chávez located in the Student's Square

This was reported by the political organization Vente Venezuela based in Barinas. "The town that saw Chavez's birth burned and stoned his own statue in the old Plaza del Estudiante, after spending hours at night and early morning without electricity," they reported through their Twitter account.

In another tweet indicated that the residents of the city "will continue to protest if the electrical and social problem continues." The information was also disclosed by the deputy to the National Assembly and vice president of the Permanent Finance Committee, Andrés Eloy Camejo.

"People inflamed by the abuses, and by the faults of the light, burned the statue of Hugo Chávez in Sabaneta, his hometown. They blame him as the cause of all their evils and tragedies, "announced the parliamentarian in the aforementioned social network.
