They’re among Brazil’s most fearsome predators – but even jaguars meet their match sometimes.

Researchers observing big cats in the Pantanal tropical wetlands have captured the incredible interactions between jaguars and the giant otters that build their dens along the rivers.

In one hilarious encounter, a young female jaguar was caught wandering too close to the otters’ favorite snacking spot, causing the whole group to gang up on her and chase her away in a flurry of splashing and screaming.



The comical scene was spotted during a boat ride down São Lourenço River, near Panthera’s Brazilian research station.

1. Otters are bad asses!

I remember watching one of those shows where these guys reached into little places along rivers and tried to pull out these big catfish. Can't remember the term they use for it. Anyway, one of the moderators was relaying a story where some one reached in and accidentally grabbed an otter......OUCH!!!
