The government of Nicolás Maduro gives another hard blow to the rights of workers, achieved during years of struggle, with the resolution 2792 of the Ministry of Labor, dated on October 11. "The measure establishes that the tabulators have a floor as a minimum wage," warned Orlando Chirino, leader of Unified, Revolutionary and Autonomous Classical Current.
The instructive, which was accessed, indicates the guidelines for collective agreements and is signed by Eduardo Piñate, the head of the office. "The government eliminates with this decision the essence of the collective contracting of the public and private sectors," denounced Chirino.
He explained that fixing as floor of the tabulators the minimum salary decreed by the president "ratifies the unilateral decision of the government since September 1 to flatten the salary tables".
The first level of the tabulators of many collective agreements exceeds a minimum wage and although the resolution indicates that the clause of the contracts already signed will be respected, it leaves in limbo what will happen when they expire.
"This means that the contracts that are to be discussed or renewed return to the floor of a minimum wage against the principle of progressive labor rights," he said.
