Vice Minister of Food throws Venezuelans under the busLink to tweet
Translation: Miserable! The "Deputy Minister of Food" speaks ... and he confesses that they play with the hunger of the people: "Leave the song that people are moving around protesting the legs". "That's going to happen." "December is ending". "It was a risky strategy, but necessary"
And what the General said, in its entirety
So, the cunning and subtle plan is to ignore the promises made to the starving public and hopefully, El Pueblo will forget about it soon enough. And if they don't, strong arm them with the Bolivarian (not Venezuelan) National Guard, Maduro's own Praetorian thugs.

(38 posts)The reference in post above to: "...strong arm them with the Bolivarian (not Venezuelan) National Guard, Maduro's own Praetorian thugs." is incorrect. Venezuela is the "Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela" and the "Bolivarian National Guard" is the national guard of Venezuela, not some import from Bolivia.
Bolivar, the great South American independence leader was important in the formation of several South American countries, and this is shown in Venezuela's case, by the incorporation of a reference to his name in the countries official name.

(2,412 posts)Until Chavez, the National Guard WAS a Venezuelan institution. The point being, they don't serve Venezuela any longer. Their mandate is to to protect Bolivarian Socialism (the Revolution) from "the enemy", not Venezuelans. Which is why you don't see the word VENEZUELA in any number of Chavist security agencies.
FANB -Fuerza Armada Nacional Bolivariana (Armed Forces)
GNB -Guardia Nacional Bolivariana (National Guard)
PNB -Policía Nacional Bolivariana (National Police)
SEBIN -Servicio Bolivariano de Inteligencia Nacional (Secret Police)
Notice the lack of the world VENEZUELA in any of the titles of these "security agencies"? That is because Chavismo doesn't give the least shit about Venezuela. What is important is the Revolution.

(38 posts)I mostly agree with you about the current regime in Venezuela.
My previous post was merely to take issue with how you had incorrectly conflated the terms "Bolivian" and "Bolivarian".
"Bolivian" refers to the country of Bolivia, whereas "Bolivarian" in the context of your post refers to the current government in Venezuela. So, when you referred to the Bolivarian National Guard (of Venezuela) as "a Praetorian Guard of Bolivian thugs," you slandered true Bolivians (including friends I have there).
Or are you saying that you have evidence that the Bolivarian National Guard (of Venezuela) is a mercenary force recruited from Bolivia? If so, please provide the proof you have to back up your claim of "Bolivian thugs".

(2,412 posts)Bolivia? Bolivian???
Where? Every mention I made was Bolivarian, not Bolivian.
Under Chavismo, the mandate for its security forces is to protect Bolivarian Socialism from its enemies. Not Venezuela from its enemies. As a matter of fact, SEBIN is directed by none other than Chavismo's #2, the Marxist/Leninist Delcy Rodriguez. Her speeches alone are proof of where her loyalties lie. Venezuelans can rot in Hell for all she cares. What matters is her precious revolution.
