Venezuela's Guaido vows to paralyze public sector to squeeze Maduro
Deisy Buitrago, Angus Berwick
5 MIN READ
CARACAS (Reuters) - Opposition leader Juan Guaido held talks with Venezuelas public sector unions on Tuesday about staging strikes to help bring down the government, as President Nicolas Maduro said a crazed minority bent on destabilizing the country would be defeated.
The strikes would ratchet up pressure on a weakened Maduro by giving several million state employees, a traditional bastion of government support, a chance to demonstrate their frustration with an administration that has overseen Venezuelas deepest ever economic crisis.
The opposition is also seeking to capitalize on momentum spurred by Guaidos triumphant return to Venezuela on Monday to press for an end to Maduros rule.
Guaido flouted a travel ban to tour Latin American countries to muster support for his plan for a transition government ahead of free and fair elections.

I keep looking for subtle signs that we've reached a tipping point. Last night I tuned in to La Hojilla with Mario Silva. While not officially a member of the regime, he's a key part of their propaganda apparatus. He's the only alta-chavista I'd heard comment on Guaido's return when late Monday he said something along the lines of those diplomats who met the new president at the airport should be deported.
His show was a re-run from what I could tell. That's not necessarily something significant with yesterday being the climax of Carnival, but it's still worth noting.
Tonight's show with Godgiven Hair should be interesting. He's got egg on his face with his loyalists for making that proclamation that the governor of Vargas would have Guaido arrested as he entered the country. I wonder how he'll handle that cock-up?
I've long said that when his show, Con El Mazo Dando, is either cancelled suddenly or a re-run is put in its place, that the shit is about to hit the fan.

two days later...
Maduro says, "March 9, we will take to the streets!"
Not an original thought in the burro's head.
Of course, no reporting of the Guaido rally is allowed on TV or radio. Internet will be down (Twitter, WhatsApp, etc.) And Maduro's rally will require all State employees to attend (transportation provided!)
