In a nutshell, a Corpoelec (Venezulean power company) engineer from Guyana, Angel Sequea, was hauled off by SEBIN (I imagine because of the power outage) and was later found dead supposedly because of a riot.
A buddy of mine on the other side of the country just sent me the guy's name and I googled it to see what was up. Haven't found much which is why I asked if this story broke while I was literally, in the dark.

Municipal lawmaker Fernando Alban, 56, was jailed last Friday for alleged involvement in the explosion of two drones during a military parade in August that was led by President Nicolas Maduro, Interior Minister Nestor Reverol said.
At the moment he was going to be transported to court, while he was in the SEBIN waiting room, he jumped from the window of the building and fell, causing his death, Reverol wrote in a post on Twitter.
That account differed from the one by Chief Prosecutor Tarek Saab, who said in televised statements that Alban had asked to use a bathroom and jumped from there.
The opposition First Justice party, for which Alban was a Caracas municipal counselor, said he was murdered.
With great pain and thirst for justice we tell the people of Venezuela ... that Councilman Fernando Alban was murdered at the hands of the regime of Nicolas Maduro, the party said.
First Justices national coordinator, Julio Borges, said Albans lifeless body was thrown from the SEBINs headquarters on Caracas Plaza Venezuela. He did not provide any evidence and did he say what led him to believe that Alban was killed.
The party said that Albans arrest was owing to statements he made at recent United Nations meetings in New York City denouncing humans rights violations in Venezuela.
The government had previously given no reason for his arrest. On Monday, Reverol said Alban had also been investigated for destabilizing activities directed from abroad.
The chairman of the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Senator Bob Corker, called on Maduro to explain the reasons for Albans death. Corker was in Caracas on Monday to meet with government officials and the opposition to assess Venezuelas economic crisis.

Tough break, bro! Your high profile prisoner throws himself out of the most secure building in Venezuela (cameras everywhere) and wouldn't you know it, they weren't on/working when your man decided to throw himself out of a 10th floor window (the only one not locked) because he felt so damn guilty about his complicity with El Imperio! It's a good thing he gave a signed confession before he jumped, otherwise you might face some sort of demotion from your SEBIN bosses!
So we shouldn't be surprised, really. Political prisoners aren't special in ChavismoLand. Just another toy for the amusement of El Jefe.

(285 posts)....stepson called and told his mom that there is no internet in Tachira......that it's been "cut-off". I tried to call him back to ask if this was something he'd read or heard. Afterall, we lose internet here quite regularly. The kid's no drama queen, former Army officer who graduated from the military academy in Caracas, so I tend to take his comments seriously.
Still no cable here in this area. Sure would like to see Godgiven's program Wednesday night, assuming it'll even air.

(285 posts)......does on VTV here, channel 12 on my local cable.
BTW, asked my woman again about the stepson's comments about internet. He told her that they were in blackout again electricity-wise and because of that had lost internet service as well......not that their internet service had been cut-off.
And thanks for the link GD.

(285 posts)I tried a few minutes ago but we're still without TV service here so I have no idea if his show will run tonight. If it doesn't, then I suspect there really is some big shit in the works.
BTW, his last show was #243 on 27 Feb according to my notes.
For the record, it's 7:44 PM here.

(2,412 posts)They promote campaign in networks, they denounce their forced disappearance for the second time
In the networks they ask #DondeEstaGiovanyZambrano CORPOELEC worker arrested for the second time since March 11
By: Provea / Aporrea.org | Wednesday, 03/13/2019 12:00 PM
translated from Spanish
Mr. Geovany Zambrano, after offering technical statements at a press conference denouncing the serious deterioration of the country's electrical installations, on 18.02.2019, long before the start of the national blackout. For this reason, he was forced to retire (54 years old) and on March 11 he was arbitrarily detained without a warrant at the Sebin headquarters in Bolívar State for questioning. He was released at 3am on 12.03.2019 and that same day, at 4pm, he was again arbitrarily detained in the Alta Vista sector of Puerto Ordaz by the same officials, witnesses said.
After more than 5 hours, they informed Provea that they have not had contact with him and they do not know his whereabouts. They demand their immediate release and their physical integrity is guaranteed. The persecution for social and / or political reasons, the forced disappearance of people and the incarceration - in a massive and systematic way, could be configured within the assumptions of crimes against humanity foreseen in the Rome Statute.
At midnight on March 12, officials of the Sebin arbitrarily searched, without a warrant, the house of the Corpoelec worker Geovany Zambrano. They took him there with 2 witnesses and his wife was able to talk briefly with him. They took documents to jail him again. A pattern similar to the one implemented with Luis Carlos Díaz. Although it was found that he was being detained by SEBIN, this body does not officially confirm that he has been detained in any of his facilities, so the situation of forced disappearance is maintained.
