1,000 Israeli Soldiers To Arrive in Honduras to Train Troops, Police on Border Protection

1,000 Israeli Soldiers To Arrive in Honduras to Train Troops, Police on Border Protection
Israeli soldiers will be in Honduras to train the country

Published 6 May 2019 (11 hours 19 minutes ago)

A multilateral military treaty between Honduras, Israel, and the United States will see the deployment of 1000 Israeli soldiers at Honduras. They will train the Armed Forces of Honduras (FFAA) and National Police (PN).

The main mission of the troops is to train for border protection to stop migrants fleeing Honduras to the U.S., especially children.

This would be the second time that Honduras is allowing foreign military personnel in the territory and the first time in Israel’s history to send troops abroad.

Apart from border protection, fight against drug trafficking, investigation, and counterterrorism will be offered as well.

Particularly by Israel, Russia and the U.S.? Is all this interest in these countries because of a takeover plan by Russia and/or the U.S.?

Oil?

War for a takeover?

There's so much which happens throughout the Americas with US direct or covert involvement which never gets acknowledged by US corporate media, unless years pass and some journalist or organization requests declassified records under the Freedom of Information act and the government decides it will share.

Much of what we have learned happened years after the events.

I have seen in articles which ARE printed in English, that there's a lot of protest going on in Honduras, right now. Teachers are protesting the fact the government is trying to privatize education, something that happens every time a hard right administration gets slammed into place with US support.

From the BBC, a week ago:

Honduras protests: Buildings burn during clashes over reforms
30 April 2019

Riot police and protesters have clashed in the Honduran capital, Tegucigalpa, during protests against planned reforms of the health and education sector.

Hundreds of people had to be evacuated from a number of buildings in the city after they were set alight.

The protesters fear that the reforms could lead to mass lay-offs of teachers and doctors.

They have been on strike since Congress approved the reforms. Demonstrations were also held outside the capital.

Also from the same article:

What's the political background?
Backers of the reform say the opposition Libre party is stoking opposition to the law for political purposes. The bills have the backing of conservative President Juan Orlando Hernández.

During the protests, many of the demonstrators also demanded the resignation of President Hernández, who won a second term in 2017 in a disputed election in which his party was accused of fraud.

I just remembered a DU friend who left mentioned to me a couple of days ago that they also are trying to shut hospitals which poor people have been depending on. I do recall that in the coup in 2009, there was a hospital run by a Jesuit priest, a doctor, specifically for the poor who could get no medical help at all until he built it. As soon as the right-wing coup seized control, they shut it down. These things are life and death matters to the huge poor sector in Honduras.

Glad to see your post, and be reminded me to look for information now, since this has been in the back of my mind, without more info, which I needed.

I might add that Honduras was used as a property they nicknamed "Battleship USA" during the "covert" war run on Nicaragua by Ronald Reagan, by funding, and training, and furnishing materials to right-wing soldiers to overthrow the elected Nicaraguan President during Reagan's Presidency. They used Honduras to organize attacks, and hide soldiers, weapons, etc. to wage war against Nicaragua, and a lot of missions. Reagan also was laying waste to the indigenous population in El Salvador, as well, and Guatemala, governed by Reagan's dictator friend, Efrain Rios-Montt. It was a very brutal time for Central America, and US citizens had NO idea what the hell was happening. Reagan explained it all as a threat to the US, claiming that if one of the countries fell to communists (WTF?) there would be a "Domino Theory" result with that one country leading the other countries to become commie nations, too. Like Zombies.

I think we know who the zombies are. Critters who love killing, just for the hell of it, and making war, just to get stupid people whipped up, and to keep getting elected, pretending they are the only ones who can save us from scary "enemies."

Sorry. Sometimes it gets a little hard to take when you know what they're all about.

Looks as if Honduras is going through some real upheaval, and the US in involved, again. By the way, Israel has been involved for decades, occassionally sending advisers, military trainers, and all kinds of military weaponry to any of these countries with hard right leaders who are fighting against leftists, in both Central, and South Americas. That kind of information doesn't usually get shared by US corporate media.

I've also had a huge bunch of questions in the back of my mind since I heard Russia was involved and sending troops down there. Too close for comfort.

Was it the Bush clan which bought a bunch of property down there as well as water rights? Didn't they send one of the Bush daughters to make the deal? We wondered at the time what they were up to.

So many crooks. Hard to keep up.

and George H W Bush's good friend, Rev. Sun Myung Moon went first, buying a vast estate first, bringing a multitude of his followers there, you may recall them working the crowds in airports in the US, out for donations to their Unification Church, same group which has had mass wedding of hundreds of brides and grooms.

Moon's ties to the Republicans go back at least as far as Richard M Nixon:

Clearly that property is going to demand an incredible price when water becomes even more scarce. (I might add that George H W Bush belonged to a corporation, Bechtel, which controlled a company, Aguas del Tunari, which controlled ALL the water in Bolivia, and started raising the price of water so high poor people weren't even able to afford it, they started rioting, their fascist dictator, Hugo Banzer, sent out military snipers to shoot into the crowds, etc. and after killing and blinding people, the uprising finally drove them out. Aguas del Tunari even tried to tax people for rainwater they tried to gather in rain barrels in their own yards! That was many years ago. Water is even more scarce now. This shows you these rich Republicans most clearly HAVE believed in climate change, no doubt whatsoever. It's proven when they start investing in the world's dwindling water resources.

Before Jenna Bush went down to Paraguay, in George W.'s family interests, Neil Bush, George W Bush's brother, went to Paraguay, himself, to do his own business, trading on the Bush's friendship with Moon, and Paraguay:

President's brother flaks for Moon organization in Latin America while his curriculum on wheels is being investigated by the Education Department's inspector general

by Bill Berkowitz / March 31st, 2008

Over the past several years, Neil Bush, the younger brother of President George W. Bush and the son of former President George H.W. Bush, has made several international trips of behalf of the Reverend Sun Myung Moon’s assorted enterprises. In late February, Bush called on Paraguay’s president while in the country as a guest of a business federation founded by the Rev. Moon.

A source in the Paraguayan president’s office, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, confirmed that Neil had met with President Nicanor Duarte “along with a delegation from the Universal Peace Federation,” a group associated with Moon. According to its website, the UPF “is a global alliance of individuals and organizations dedicated to building a world of peace, a world in which everyone can live in freedom, harmony, cooperation, and co-prosperity for all.”

Meanwhile, back home, late last year, a number of news reports confirmed that the U.S. Department of Education’s Inspector General was looking into “allegations that federal money is being spent inappropriately on technology sold to schools” by Ignite!Learning, a company founded by Neil Bush.

Bush Buys 100,000 Acres on border of Paraguay & Brazil

uenos Aires, Oct 13 (Prensa Latina) An Argentine official regarded the intention of the George W. Bush family to settle on the Acuifero Guarani (Paraguay) as surprising, besides being a bad signal for the governments of the region.

Luis D Elia, undersecretary for the Social Habitat in the Argentine Federal Planning Ministry, issued a memo partially reproduced by digital INFOBAE.com, in which he spoke of the purchase by Bush of a 98,842-acre farm in northern Paraguay, between Brazil and Bolivia.

The news circulated Thursday in non-official sources in Asuncion, Paraguay.

D Elia considered this Bush step counterproductive for the regional power expressed by Presidents Nestor Kirchner, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, Evo Morales, Hugo Chavez and Fidel Castro.

He said that "it is a bad signal that the Bush family is doing business with natural resources linked to the future of MERCOSUR."

The official pointed out that this situation could cause a hypothetical conflict of all the armies in the region, and called attention to the Bush family habit of associating business and politics.

Here is a photo of the huge airstrip, built during Richard Nixon's Presidency, which is enough to handle the largest US military transport airplane. It's named Mariscal Estigarribia, surrounded by jungle, close to the land bought by Moon.

Paraguay to expropriate some Moon holdings
EFE News Service/September 23, 2005

The authorization, which had already been approved in August by the Senate, will now be sent to President Nicanor Duarte for his signature.

Aristides Da Rosa, of the governing Colorado Party, said that the lower house's decision coincides with the stance taken by Duarte, who publicly urged legislators from his party to support the expropriation as part of agrarian reform.

"The government is giving a clear signal that it will recover the lands of the Chaco region for residents there and, more than ever, it has made this expropriation bill its own," said Da Rosa.

He added that the move will benefit thousands of families who currently have no way to make a living, and he rejected an alternative proposal presented on Wednesday by Moon's firm.

The expropriation initiative was pushed by a group of residents of Puerto Casado, which lies within the approximately 600,000 hectares (1.5 million acres) that Moon's Unification Church owns in northern Paraguay's Chaco province.

Victoria S.A., a firm owned by followers of Moon, bought the 1.5 million acres in 2000 from the Argentine firm Carlos Casado, which in 1886 possessed all of the Paraguayan Chaco region, an expanse larger than Switzerland.

Very strange realizing how much of the original 1 1/2 million acres they still control. It's huge.

All this nonsense seems to be conducted in near secrecy, and people learn about it long after it's over. Whole lot moving beneath the surface, for sure. What a shame.
