Political parties and politicians reacted negatively to suggestion
Nov.1.2019 12:26PM
Deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro's (PSL-SP) threat to issue an authoritative decree to combat radical leftists provoked a negative reaction from congressional leaders, governors, party leaders, the STF minister, and legal entities and civil society.
In an interview on Monday (28) and released on Thursday (31), the son of Jair Bolsonaro (PSL) explained what he thought should happen if Chile's protests spread to Brazil.

"If the left radicalizes to this point, we will need to have an answer. And a solution can be via a new AI-5 ".
The original decree was issued in 1968, during the most oppressive period of the military dictatorship (1964-1985). Signed by Marshal Arthur da Costa e Silva, it resulted in the immediate and indefinite closure of the National Congress and Assemblies in all states, except for São Paulo. Later, bombarded by requests for punishment and cassation, Eduardo used social media to exalt the regime once again.
He eventually recanted at the end of the day, after being censured by his father. "This weapon [AI-5] no longer exists," the president said.
