Duque appoints "Uribista" pundit as new propaganda chief
by Adriaan Alsema December 12, 2019
Colombias President Ivan Duque appointed a controversial conservative pundit as his new propaganda chief, RCN Radio announced Wednesday.
RCN pundit Hassan Nassar is a staunch supporter of Duques political patron, former President Alvaro Uribe, and will replace another former RCN employee, Alvaro Garcia, who leaves office on December 31.
The change at the top of Duques propaganda machine comes as the president is suffering abysmal approval ratings and after weeks of apparent improvisations in response to ongoing anti-government protests.
. . .
As Duques propaganda chief, or communications councilor as the position is officially called, Nassar will be in charge of trying to improve his Duques image, which has plummeted while both fiercely tried to stigmatize ongoing anti-government protests.
