'It belongs to us' Argentina claims Falkland Islands referendum is pointless

In a letter written to the Daily Express, the country's ambassador to London declared the referendum would in 'no way change the essence of the Malvinas Islands Question.'

Alicia Castro claimed that despite the Falklanders themselves being British, the land they live on would always belong to Argentina.

Next week, the 2,563 voters of the Falklands will decide whether to remain a British Overseas Territory in a referendum supported by the British Government.

Obviously it won't matter for Argentina. I think the appropriate British response would be that the matter is now settled and refuse to discuss the subject further.
