* Can't quite figure out what this will accomplish, to her credit Yoani is now against the US blockade of Cuba and has even said that she believes the US should release the Cuban Five (though her motives for saying this may be largely about getting press coverage). In general Yoani is improving over time though she still allies herself with some right wing institutions.
en espanol for the moment but famed Miami looney Miguel Saavedra is mad that she has priviledges not afforded to other Cubans, like internet, and she wants to end the embargo, and he says she doesn't represent the Cuban people. It will be the first time they've held an act of repudiation against a person from the island.

(39,316 posts)had to stop by Cafe Versailles to see if I could catch Saavedra carrying on outside on one of his cafe cubano fueled rants with the other dinosaurs. This time there were two tv stations there trying to get quotes regarding Fidel's statements about how the US is fomenting nuclear war with Iran. They looked bored but they have to fill the news hour! No sign of Saavedra this time.

(160,593 posts)It's going to be funny seeing how Yoani adjusts to getting this kind of flak from Miami.
Thanks, flamingdem!

(39,316 posts)fortunately we'll probably get lots of video, some shot by Saavedra's minions no doubt as they'll be very proud of their brave actions against this evil one.
It will be revealing to see what Yoani has to say about this, she can be very snarky.
We'll see!

The purpose of Vigilia Mambisa is to be the mad dog tip of the spear.
Anything less wingnut appears to be part of the "rational discussion" regarding US/Cuba relations.
