Today I got a letter from a company that claims to extend auto service contracts..It is .".A SCAM "

It was a letter, Presorted Standard Postage...looking official..titled, ""Vehicle Notification Department

The letter warns if you fail to respond, then you will lose your "vehicle service contract"..(whatever that is)

In very small print...(smallest in the later) it says the offer is from...Auto Assure LLC
On the back of the letter, at the bottom it states in very small print.."...This is an advertisement to obtain coverage. Auto Assure is located at 6400 Pinecrest Drive, Plano Texas Suite 400..zip 75034 - 2959

Consequently, I researched this company at the Better Business Bureau, and at Scam sites that google connects to. I saw two different kinds of responses to this company..Glowing tributes saying it was a great company. And complaints that say the company did not follow through in covering repairs.

The extended coverage that the company offers, costs between $3000 and $4000. They send people letters, and then they call you endlessly. The company itself..Auto Assure LLC, only sells this so called service contract. It does not, repeat does not service a car, if the car breaks down That is left to another company. I read a number of complaints on how the company is a scam, It took over two hours of research to come up with this info.

Here is a Better Business Bureau link on complaints..you must scroll down to those that give information, but the negative ones are extremely informative. And some of these complaints are very recent. Some are blank, but if you read the ones with narrative they are damning against this company. The complaints against this company with details, start about the 5th one down and are from August 2018. The company responds but with mostly the same response. Some complaints are very long.

1. All 3rd party auto service contracts are suspect.

Only buy an extended warranty from the auto manufacturer.

2. I got one of these emails yesterday.. I spammed it.

3. Yes, I've gotten these too

I call them low-tech spam, or they're more like the robo-dialed nuisance calls.

Somebody somewhere will be dumb enough to open it and read it. If the company gets one sale out of 10,000 it pays for the stupid junk mailing. It all goes into the landfill, which really makes me sick to think about. What a waste of money.

4. It is sad to say, there are many people to have read and respond with payments.

I found out the company has been around for more than 6 years. If the company was not making some money, then it would have gone broke much sooner. It is possible that this law suit by the Minnesota Atty General, Lori Swanson, will ultimately destroy the company. But that will take a while to come to trial. In the meantime, this company continues sending letters. As I said in the original post, I got mine today.

5. Geezer here- can see why they make money

Came close to biting for my older car, but called my car dealer to see what they were talking about. They said loud and clear it is a scam and that they were being swamped by calls like mine because the mailing looks so real.

6. I read an article years ago at Consumer Reports

Its bottom line: Do not buy extended warranties. Period. And I never have.

7. I get calls from companies selling extended vehicle warranties

First thing I ask them is "Which vehicle are you calling about?" Usually they hang up. If they persist, I ask about getting a warranty on my 1999 GMC Suburban. They do hang up at that point.

In very small print it mentioned it was an advertisement.
