Trump's glowing account of progress is at odds with his government's own stats

President Donald Trump’s glowing account of progress under his watch Wednesday was out of tune with the experience of price-squeezed Americans and the story told by some of his government’s own statistics.

In a speech from the White House, Trump assailed the record of his Democratic predecessor and boasted expansively about his record so far. Not all of those boasts were credible.

Among them:

On inflation

His claim that prices are falling rapidly is not seen in the inflation numbers, which are about where they were when he took office, after having fallen significantly before the end of Joe Biden’s presidency. Nor is it true that the Biden era gave the country its worst inflation ever.

The consumer price index was 3% in September, the same rate as in January, a tick up from 2.9% in December, Biden’s last full month in office.

On investment

“I secured a record-breaking $18 trillion of investment into the United States.”

Trump has presented no evidence that he’s secured this much domestic or foreign investment for the United States.

A landslide?

Trump won a decisive victory but hardly a landslide one, however you define a landslide.

His Republican base runs on beliefs, not facts. Facts bounce off their Shield of Belief. Unfortunately for Trump some of the ignorant and apathetic non-voting third of the electorate are beginning to wake up. Hopefully they will discover the difference between Trump's lies and facts.

Although he could fling his diaper at most of his Trumpkins, as you know - and they'd still think he was the Messiah.

"That's the smell of rapture, Lou Ann!"

"Must be, Jim Bob - 'cause I think I'm about to die."

Still - just losing 10% of them would be more than enough to guarantee defeat for the GOPee.

(hence their putting their anti-democratic plans in to overdrive as they have)

that 10% only has to stay home. Especially if many of the awakening 33% who haven't bothered to vote can be educated and energized to vote for the Democratic candidates.

Between you and me, I hope and pray all the death threats the Trumpkins at lobbing at Taylor Greene (and her family!) will reuslt in her launching a presidential - or even just senatorial - bid on a third-party ticket.

A "Freedom Party"-style vehicle, with a RW platform of course.

It would be her best revenge - and quite possibly, end up being the best thing she will have ever done for our dear, old U.S.A.
