Poverty Report Contradicts GDP Claims

Illusionary Growth
by PAUL CRAIG ROBERTS

It is amazing how the government manages to continue selling Brooklyn Bridges to a gullible public. Americans buy wars they don’t need and economic recoveries that do not exist.

The best investment in America is a highly leveraged fund that invests only in large cap companies that are buying back their own stocks. Many of the firms repurchasing their stocks are borrowing in order to push up their stock prices, executive “performance bonuses,” and shareholders’ capital gains. The debt incurred will have to be serviced by future earnings. This is not a picture of capitalism that is driving the economy by investment.

Neither is consumer spending driving the economy. The US Census Bureau’s 2013 Income and Poverty Report concludes that in 2013 real median household income was 8 percent below the amount in 2007, the year prior to the 2008 recession and has declined to the level in 1994, two decades ago! Even though real household income has not regained the pre-recession level and has declined to the level 20 years ago, the government and financial press claim that the economy has been in recovery since June 2009.

Neither is an increase in consumer debt driving the economy. The only growth in personal debt is in student loans.

I like him not just because he has two cats,
I feel he speaks truth and seen it from the inside and unfortunately it can be unpleasant to some.

You have a great weekend!

I have a hard time taking stuff like this seriously from him, but maybe it's just me? Seems kind of like 'the sky is falling' attitude.

U.S. Has Plans for Preemptive Nuclear Attack- Paul Craig Roberts
By Greg Hunter On June 4, 2014

By Greg Hunter’s USAWatchdog.com

Former Assistant Treasury Secretary Dr. Paul Craig Roberts says the U.S. has plans for nuclear war with our rivals. Dr. Roberts explains, “Washington not only has war plans for launching a preemptive nuclear attack on Russia, and also possibly China, but Washington has a cadre of people who advocate nuclear war. We have people running around Washington saying things such as ‘What’s the good of nuclear weapons if you can’t use them.’ . . . These weapons are so lethal that if just one percent of the inventory of the U.S. and Russia were used, the death toll would be at least 2 billion people. Also, if less than half of the inventory of either the U.S. or Russia were used, life would cease to exist on planet earth.” Dr. Roberts goes on to say, “I have been warning about this for some years. I pointed out years ago that the Bush regime had changed U.S. war doctrine such that the role of nuclear weapons was no longer retaliatory to be used in the event of a nuclear attack on the United States. It was elevated to a first strike position. It is now our war doctrine that we can initiate a nuclear war on somebody we don’t like, or who we think might not agree with us, or who we think might be prepared to go to war against us. This doctrine applies to countries that do not have nuclear weapons.”

and that's what I like him for.

Let's hope he's wrong about nuclear attacks for we are a War Weary Nation, if comes to that, it's over.

We've seen more war then not.

Besides we're from the Make Love Not War era and protest we did has our love ones served!

Thanks and you enjoy your weekend friend!
