It doesn't say we need to abandon our social issues principles, but rather we need to address what used to be one of our bread and butter constituencies.

the part about the Head Start teacher not being able to afford child care for her own children is especially poignant. it's the result of nonsensical barriers put up for working people. this manufactures bitterness, and dooms our social programs to fail.
