Quote for the Day:
The President seemed pleased. He sensed his reelection firmly within his grasp, and he initiated a bull session, opening it with the use of wiretaps by his predecessors. He was toying with the idea that a juicy revelation of political wiretapping by a Democratic President might further bury Watergate, I thought. He and Haldeman discussed whether to use information we had that President Johnson had ordered the Republican campaign tapped in 1968.

(43,190 posts)38,001. I have no definite observations to make. Over the last several years, I thought markets might make it around this level, and fail. Now I can't say I'm betting either direction. A forecasting company I follow said this past weekend they were very close to making a bull call on the S&P. With all this AI, plenty of jobs, soft landing, tech on a roll like it's 1999, who's going to bet against it? When a stock chart climbs and climbs it's not uncommon to see 11-13 chart candles green (up), with the last 3 being a three bar move of long candles, sharp euphoria amid a 30% move.
To put it another way, find evidence for a sharp reversal. We're shaking off 2 wars, climate change, political unrest worldwide, earthquakes. Is the human condition aggregating the benefits, research, productive capacity of capitalism and making things better? Except we're killing masses all the time?
