Quote for the Day:

Rock the Vote started out in 1990 as a way for members of the recording industry to fight right-wing attempts to censor music and restrict artistic freedom. A year later, recognizing that young people were its natural base of support for that agenda, Rock the Vote committed itself "to the political empowerment of young Americans." One of its biggest accomplishments so far has been to lobby successfully for the passage of the motor voter bill (now the National Voter Registration Act of 1993), which allows people to register to vote when they get a driver's license. A lot of younger artists have been very involved with Rock the Vote, including Jewel, Pearl Jam, Chuck D of Public Enemy, Hootie & the Blowfish, Queen Latifah, Sheryl Crow, LL Cool J, and REM.

That's been the January pattern. Topping action? Dunno.

I have tiny long positions in INTC and NKE. They have been laggards for a week or so. Due for a bountz.

I follow 2 highly respected and very old growth mutual funds, both of which had leading edge results in January. Even they have given up almost 1/2 their Jan gains.
