A Domino's Pizza in New York City has reportedly fired 20 employees who joined last week's nationwide fast food protests after they complained about unfair wages and lousy working conditions. The delivery workers, who are paid under $6 an hour and rely heavily on tips, confronted management after they were asked to work extended hours inside, with no tips or raise in pay to minimum-wage levels. Local politicians have taken up their case. One of many NYC companies accused of various forms of wage theft, Domino's has already faced worldwide protests, employee shortages due to low wages, and charges of illegally firing a deaf kid for being deaf - and their pizza is gross.

(14,337 posts)In between jobs, my husband was a driver for a limo company and drove business people (and rich ones) to and from the NY airports and occasionally out to the Hampton's. While his hourly wages were not much, they were certainly at least minimum wage. Tips? lol They were a hell of a lot more than a pizza delivery person would ever get. So why didn't this limo company pay less than minimum wage????? Is it possible they had SCRUPLES?
Domino's sucks all around. ALL the chain pizza companies do. Buy a pizza from your local neighborhood Mom and Pop. Besides which, why would ANYONE want a sucky Domino's pizza in NYC??????

(60 posts)That is an understatement. Over the last five years there were two Dominos' that opened in towns around my area. Neither lasted more than a year. Neither had a product that could compete taste wise with the local stores.
These franchise owners aren't very smart are they? These fired employees take to the net with their twitter and Facebook accounts and before you know it there is a local boy cot of the store.
