There's a better way

X post in Socialist-Progressive

I work for the Bloomingfoods co-op in Bloomington, Indiana – in fact, I’m the second generation of my family to work there. It was founded to be a community-owned alternative to the big box stores like Walmart and to put the needs of its neighbors first.

While many of our customers think that our co-op still works that way, workers know it’s no longer true. Many of us can’t afford to live on what we earn as Bloomingfoods workers. Many of us are stuck as permanent part-time workers – with no access to benefits.

When we tried to join together to change things at Bloomingfoods, our management wouldn’t commit to working with us to find a better way.

One of our customers (and a co-op member-owner) started a petition to help us out. Sign his petition to tell Bloomingfoods that they should respect our voices and recognize our union, not fight their own workers.
