Atlanta Symphony Orchestra players ratify contract
ATLANTA (AP) The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra management has announced agreement with its players on a four-year contract and says the orchestra's 70th anniversary season will open Thursday.
The symphony said in a statement Saturday that it's looking forward to the season after 10 months of negotiations, which were marked by a two-month player lockout. It says musicians will receive a 6-percent pay increase over four years and will pay increased premiums to participate in a high-deductible health plan.
One of the most contentious issues was the size of the orchestra, which is to rise from 77 musicians to 88 players over four years.

I have 2 earlier stories in LBN from early this afternoon. I was in a hurry to post those when I was getting ready to head back out the door. They are about Cablevision and Iowa State workers. I've been away from the net most of the day.
