So frustrated

I am currently employed, but hate my job. Been trying to find another one (More pay, better benefits...)... Nothing...

In my 40s with over 20 years of call center experience. And no one says I'm qualified... It's like pounding my head against a cement wall.....

1. Before Corona 19

Before Corona 19 I was thinking about trying to get a gig working from home because y 4 hour daily commute was killing me.

Then... corona, and I find that I get to work from home (since March). But back before I had signed up with this job search thing called Indeed, and I am still getting daily mails about different kind of work from home jobs.

I can't tell much about how much the jobs pay, some post salary info, most don't. But it might be worth checking into.

with Indeed. I have applied to tons, and got nothing. Most of what they send me is sales, marketing... jobs I'm not interested in because I can't take the chance with commission... but thank you.

It comes down to, I'm stuck in a dead end job, not interested in what I'm doing at all (it pays, kinda, the bills). Can't get a job in what I do enjoy (have studied political science for 27 years, same for history, human behavior... all on my own and have proven to "professionals" I can keep up with them) all because I don't have an over priced piece of paper that says I'm smart. Like I said, just so frustrated....

3. I cry nightly now and try not to vomit before going to work each morning.

But I cannot afford to just quit. I have obligations and cannot bring myself to let anyone in my family down. Those golden handcuffs are on tight!

I've applied to 263 jobs since early October with very few nibbles. I don't apply unless I can check every last qualifications box. If there is just one threshold I don't sail past, I don't apply. If it isn't a job I think I could do extremely well right out of the gate, I don't apply.

I've never experienced anything like this in my life.I don't even get an initial phone screening for jobs I could do in my sleep. I'm desperate because I am being asked to do things I find personally unethical and in some cases know is downright illegal. I'm beside myself with frustration and despair.

5. I feel ya...

I'm desperately trying to find somethin remote because I'm 50 and my body is just broken. I can't hold a "normal" job for more than a few months before I have a major issue. This weekend my back locked up for three days.

Hate going on disability, cuz it's just temporary and since 2018 I just cant seem to keep anything steady. My sister has a mgmt job with the same co for 20 years and thinks that I'm a loser/flake because I have health issues and can't work like a drone.

I've been applying all over, nobody calls back. I swear cuz they know how old I am and blow me off.

It pisses me off so much when everyone cries "Nobody wants to work anymore"
it's bullshit.
