Kasich Budget Calls for Teachers To Intern with Local Businesses As License Renewal Criteria

Unbelievable! How about legislators interning with teachers?

Kasich Budget Calls for Teachers To Intern with Local Businesses As License Renewal Criteria

Buried 1056 pages deep in the Governor's budget (HB-49) is this eye popping provision

Sec. 3319.236. Beginning September 1, 2018, the state board of education's rules for the renewal of educator licenses shall require each applicant for renewal of a license to complete an on-site work experience with a local business or chamber of commerce as a condition of renewal. Work experience obtained pursuant to this section shall count toward any required continuing education. Each local professional development committee established under section 3319.22 of the Revised Code shall work with its teachers to identify local work experience opportunities that meet the requirements of this section.

GOP doesnt like unions or working people.

GOP believes teachers are old ladies with buns, who work a couple hours a day and have 5 months vacation a year.

GOP are disgusting assholes.

These repugs are continually plotting to get their corporate clients free stuff — not like the free stuff they always say Dems are out to get, mind you.

How does this nonsense advance the career skills of professional educators? Is flipping flapjacks at the truckstop a substitute for learning child development?

It smells like Republicans are just trying to hide their true vindictive natures by pretending that sexisim isn't the real reason for retaliating against a union that is mostly women.

before this pro forced ( &free labor,) anti teacher Repub wet dream is passed in the budget.

The only (unforseen by Repubs who control local chambers of commerce) is that, by forcing teachers to become familiar with their chambers of commerce, it will force shine some serious sunlight onto these traditionally Repub propaganda machines in their communities. For Republicans who thought up this hairbrained scheme, if implemented it might actually backfire upon them

Not to mention that any Repub business owner who's profiting from one of these teacher interns might actually get some outside the tribal bubble exposure to actual political facts and reality from them, not something the Repug want penetrating their apparent info lockdown of their constituents.

Forced birth, forced labor, forced ignorance..the Repub Party and their relentless plantation mentality. This is just another example but it might backfire.

GOOD LUCK OHIO TEACHERS! That coming from the crazy home of HB 2, the Bathroom Bill. And I thought we were the only crazy state out there. How long is this purposed internship?....I'm guessing it covers the entire summer break. No chance for a summer job....but, but, but who will teach Summer School? And I thought my state was crazy. Guess it's contagious.

Ohio ranked 49 out of the 50 states in spending on students. Only Mississippi spent less.

This does not surprise me.
