Greenpeace fireworks shine light on French nuclear safety concerns

METZ (FRANCE) (AFP) -
Greenpeace activists set off fireworks inside a nuclear plant in eastern France early Thursday after breaking into the facility to underline its vulnerability to attack.

The anti-nuclear group, known for its daring and often spectacular publicity stunts, said the fireworks were set off at the foot of a spent fuel pool -- where nuclear plants store highly radioactive fuel rods that are removed from reactors after their use.

"Our activists launched a firework in the perimeter of a French nuclear plant. These installations are vulnerable," the group said on Twitter, along with a video of the stunt at the plant in Cattenom, near the border with Luxembourg.

The tiny duchy's environment minister, Carole Dieschbourg, was "very worried over the huge security shortcomings" at the plant, her ministry said in a statement.

...still carrying on with puerile cartoonish stunts.

They are a bunch of bourgeois assholes completely devoid of a shred of education, or sense.

They're the sort of assholes who drive their useless bourgeois asses to the tops of pristine mountains where the glaciers are melting because of dumb ass bourgeois asses to get their pictures taken naked, in the warm air, air whose warmth rests squarely on their mindless cartoon uneducated vision of the world.

600 strip naked on glacier in global warming protest

In the ten years since this pictured of these naked bourgeois clueless idiots was taken, the number of people who died from air pollution is 70 million, at a rate of 7 million per year, 19,000 per day, about 800 people per hour, one every 5 seconds or so.

A comparative risk assessment of burden of disease and injury attributable to 67 risk factors and risk factor clusters in 21 regions, 1990–2010: a systematic analysis for the Global Burden of Disease Study 2010 (Lancet 2012, 380, 2224–60: For air pollution mortality figures see Table 3, page 2238 and the text on page 2240.)

Global warming is proceeding at the fastest rate ever observed, 2.2 ppm per year while trillions of dollars that might have saved countless human lives are squandered on the idiot fantasies of Greenpeace types, so called "renewable energy" which didn't work; isn't working, and won't work.

How many people died from terrorist attacks on nuclear plants in the last ten years again? Anything like 70 million?

History will not forgive these fucking idiots, whose stupidity is criminal. They may think that dressing up in monkey suits, stripping on glaciers and breaking into nuclear plants to launch puerile fireworks displays is amusing. It isn't. Again, it's criminal, a crime against humanity.

Nuclear energy saves lives.

Prevented Mortality and Greenhouse Gas Emissions from Historical and Projected Nuclear Power (Environ. Sci. Technol., 2013, 47 (9), pp 4889–4895)

Stupidity, by contrast, kills people.

Have a nice weekend.

From the continuing leakage from Fukushima Daiichi which continues to poison the Pacific food chain and the local environment, to the thousands of tons of unprocessed nuclear waste at various sites which as yet cannot be made safe nor stored safely. This is not to mention the toxic byproducts and side effects of past and present mining and refining uranium ores.

As one who lived downstream from 3 mile Island I don't take the safety of nuclear energy plants lightly at all. If they are indeed so secure why did DHS report otherwise?

I'm not an advocate of silly stunts by anyone. However I find your reverence of the Nuclear Industry disturbing.
