Sixth Mass Extinction Ushers In Record-Breaking Wildfires and Heat

Sea surface temperatures in the Arctic are warming at stunning rates. To give you an idea, look at this blog containing images showing sea surface temperatures in one specific location near Svalbard for July 6 for each of the following years:
2014: -0.8°C or 30.6°F
2015: 6.2°C or 43.2°F
2016: 8.3°C or 47.0°F
2017: 14.4°C or 57.9°F
2018: 16.6°C or 61.9°F

On July 30, 2018, the sea surface near Svalbard was as warm as 19.3°C or 66.8°F — 13.9°C or 25°F warmer than it was during 1981-2011.

Scientists recently revealed that ocean acidity will soon reach levels that have not been seen for 14 million years. Ocean acidification occurs when oceans absorb CO2 from the atmosphere, causing the water to have a lower pH, and was the key driver of the loss of more than 90 percent of life on Earth during the Permian mass extinction event.

Nuclear war is iffy, this coming Extinction is not.

I read the article on TruthOut earlier but thank you for posting. Just wish these articles were posted in general discussion.

My heart is breaking for all that we have seen and marveled at on this planet which is being lost.
My family in Wash. state is experiencing almost apocalyptic weather conditions, deadly thick smoke, and ash falling, for days, and no end insight.
another year of even bigger fires all over the state.

Kinda figured that I would, now almost 65. My sons are prepared to witness it and I have felt just horrible that they would have to but now, I don't think even people my age will get out of it.

At 63 -- and not in the best of health -- I'm not going to survive very long in a Mad Max world. Earlier this century I kept a close watch on predictions and timelines, and it seemed I would probably die before things got bad, but I was still wary. As I half-expected it would, climate change is accelerating and now I'm not so sure that I'll beat it after all, even with a bad heart.

It was hard to watch my early 30's sons, one with a baby daughter of his own, come to grips with it. Very hard.
