QUICK FACTS

*The Antrim Gas Field in Michigan's Lower Peninsula is one of the nation's top 100 natural gas fields, and most of state's 101 billion cubic feet of gas produced in 2016 came from that field.

*In 2017, coal-fired power plants provided 37% of Michigan's net electricity generation, a slight increase from 2016, but down from 50% three years earlier.

*Michigan’s three nuclear power plants, with a total of four reactor units, provided 29% of the state's net electricity generation in 2017.

*Michigan has more underground natural gas storage capacity than any other state, equal to almost 1.1 trillion cubic feet, more than one-tenth of U.S. total gas storage capacity.

*Renewables, including wind, biomass, hydroelectric, and solar power, accounted for 8% of Michigan's net electricity generation in 2017
