Judge rejects Washington state game farm dismissal request

Judge rejects Washington state game farm dismissal request

TACOMA, WASH.

A federal judge has denied a motion to dismiss an animal mistreatment lawsuit against a Washington state wildlife farm, giving an initial victory to animal rights activists.

Peninsula Daily News reported Tuesday that the Animal Legal Defense Fund sued Olympic Game Farm in December, saying the Sequim-area business is in violation of the Endangered Species Act.

The lawsuit asks the court to require the drive-thru wildlife exhibit 95 miles (153 kilometers) northwest of Tacoma to give its endangered or threatened species to a sanctuary.

. . .

The Game Farm filed the motion in March to dismiss state public nuisance and animal cruelty claims.

from my house. Many of the animals are from people who adopt a lion or tiger cub and have to get rid of them when they grow up. They took in many of the donkeys that were going to be killed. It all started when the original owner, decades ago, took home an orphaned bear cub. They have ended up being a hybrid sanctuary (buffalo, fallow deer, donkeys) and caged animals.

They really could have better facilities for the animals. They run the drive-thru to support the animals. I hope they can turn the place into a sanctuary or give away the cats and bears who need more room.
