Related: About this forumMarco Rubio - Climate Change Real, But "Global Elites", "Alarmists", "Leftists" Blahblahblahblahblah
EDIT
Rubio said the cost of these emissions reduction schemes would set our state back, depriving us of the resources we desperately need to continue to adapt. But just because the accepted conventional wisdom of global elites and American leftists will fail does not mean we can ignore the challenges we face, Rubio added.
Arguing that the impacts of climate change are manageable, Rubio said Florida should focus on adaptive solutions. He pointed to projects such as Everglades and coral reef restoration as examples of worthwhile efforts to limit flooding, storm surge and other problems that will worsen because of climate change.
Climate experts have warned that robust efforts to cut emissions are needed if the planet is to avoid the worst impacts of global warming, which some argue could be much more dire than Rubio who wrote in his op-ed about climate alarmists seems to believe.
Americans, particularly Floridians, are right to be concerned about the changing climate, Rubio wrote. But they are also right to be concerned about a regressive overreaction. Plans stemming from panic will constrain our economy and cripple our ability to invest future resources in solving longer-term issues. They would also neutralize our tenuous economic advantage over China, which is doing barely anything to reduce its emissions.

(16,616 posts)This is going to be the dilemma: We know we need to change, but we don't want to.
EDIT: That line of Rubio's, "...depriving us of the resources we desperately need to continue to adapt" actually means "...depriving us of the resource utilization we desperately need to continue to profit."
