A solo adventurer rode a stand-up paddleboard from California to Hawaii. He saw plastic the whole way there.

(CNN)A three-month paddleboat float across the Pacific Ocean might seem crazy to the rest of us, but for Antonio de la Rosa it was just another challenge.

The Spanish endurance athlete completed a 2,951-mile journey from San Francisco, California, to Oahu, Hawaii, on Saturday, using just a specially-designed stand-up paddleboard.

The journey took him 76 days -- and he had company on every one: Plastic.

He said he saw plastic nets and other debris float past him every day.

i guess recycling is just a hoax anymore, i still recycle all my plastics, tin and aluminum, paper and glass, oils etc at recycling center... but now paper and plastic, cardboard etc are in one crusher, and glass which used to be seperated by color is now all one bin...
i suppose it all gets dumped in the ocean eventually 😔

we're not just fucked...
we're fucking ourselves ...

dismally,

✌🏼

...but did we ever really trust China not to just dump at least of it into the ocean anyway?

Reduce is the first step, and the most important. Once it's made to meet our demand, it's part of our world and as we all finally understand it gets EVERYWHERE eventually.
