Track Greta Thunberg online as she sails to Spain

She sailed to the U.S. in part to go on to attend the COP25 climate conference in Chile. But due to political unrest in Chile, the conference was moved to Spain. You probably already know she refuses to fly because of the outsized greenhouse gas emissions.

She put out a request on Twitter: "It turns out I've traveled half around the world, the wrong way Now I need to find a way to cross the Atlantic in November... If anyone could help me find transport I would be so grateful."

November isn't exactly prime sailing season in the North Atlantic, but up popped a reply from an Australian man named Riley Whitelum: "Greta it's Riley here from Sailing La Vagabonde. If you get in contact with me I'm sure we could organise something."

Turns out, Whitelum and Elayna Carausu have a catamaran, a baby and a million subscribers following their #boatlife on YouTube.

For the next few weeks, the world's most famous climate activist will be a part of it.

The voyage is expected to take two to four weeks, and Thunberg hopes to reach Spain in time for the climate conference taking place Dec. 2 to 13. The boat's location can be tracked online.

But they haven’t hit the higher wind speeds which in mid-Atlantic are yet to come

I encourage all to read and get some updates from the crew and learn also a bit about what they experience in such a trip.

I admire all of them

If I recall catamarans don't do well pointing into the wind.. Better with the wind on the beam..
I'm curious if they are gonna head north a bit to get more wind

Temperatures out there are in the 60's. The worst wind lies beyond Bermuda with 25 foot waves off the Spanish coast. That would make for some extremely hairy sailing. Maybe they can work around it to the South
