Which of course would hurt Putin if it was blocked. This gives added leverage or rather reduces the leverage Ukraine had, as Russia now have an alternate route to get the gas to Europe. I think it is a mistake that Europe have any dealings with the despot.

Germany's anti-nuclear renewable energy schemes failed which opened up German markets for coal and gas imports.

The U.S.A. could potentially export a lot of coal and Liquefied Natural Gas to Germany but ultimately the Russian gas was cheap.

The political fallout of this will be horrible, worse than nuclear waste.
