Warmer winters are impacting insect behavior in Missouri
NEW BLOOMFIELD — Most growers are familiar with the way insects can impact their crops and fields.
But a warming climate during the winter may make insect behavior increasingly challenging to predict and impact the way farmers do their work.
Mid-Missouri experiences a variety of weather each winter, including ice, snow, freezing rain, and sometimes brutally cold temperatures.
However, since 1970, the coldest temperature during the meteorological winter months of December through February has increased by 11 degrees.
