How to tell Science from Disinformation....

Science is an open, collaborative enterprise that is data driven. Scientists are conversant in all the major competing theories and openly debate them using the latest, best data. Scientists are usually reticent about large conclusions with dates certain.

This looks to me like science:

Disinformation is usually a solo (or private group) enterprise that cherry picks data. Disinformation gladly issues big conclusions with dates certain. When scientists (see above) discover big things, Disinformation usually follows like clockwork.

So.....we have this from a U of Texas Oil Geologist (who didn't disclose that):

Let's just say, I'm suspicious.

all of which mean that an ice free Arctic is probably coming much sooner that anyone expected.

That's huge. An ice free Arctic will probably have large impacts world wide and WILL PUT HEAVY PRESSURES ON THE FOSSIL FUEL INDUSTRY.

Expect, nay, set you watch for disinformation, copious articles telling us an ice free arctic is wonderful (or of negligible importance) and has probably happened many times with little effect.

I would agree. The question then becomes, how do you deal with a scientist that refuses to release his or her data?
