Fukushima is already harming our children
by Harvey Wasserman | March 10, 2013 - 9:39am

Thyroid abnormalities have now been confirmed among tens of thousands of children downwind from Fukushima. They are the first clear sign of an unfolding radioactive tragedy that demands this industry be buried forever.

Two years after Fukushima exploded, three still-smoldering reactors remind us that the nuclear power industry repeatedly told the world this could never happen.

~snip~

Untold quantities of deadly wastes still leak at Hanford and at commercial reactor sites around the world, with no solution in sight.

Radiation can be slow to cause cancer, taking decades to kill.

You already had a disease that's known to be genetic and now your child has it. It isn't a disease that has previously been associated with radiation exposure.

So what's the connection to Fukushima?

It's an auto-immune disorder with a strong genetic link (and it sounds like you've even had test results pointing in that direction).

Why would your first assumption be that it has something to do with Fukushima?

It's an autoimmune disease.

The incidence of thyroid cancers can be raised by radiation. A huge difference.

Thyroid nodule and cyst found from 57% of children outside of Fukushima, MOE “Higher than Fukushima”
Posted by Mochizuki on March 8th, 2013

According to Ministry of the Environment, thyroid nodule and cyst were measured from 56.6 % of the children in Aomori, Yamanashi and Nagasaki. [URL 1] They concluded it proves the thyroid problem rate in Fukushima is lower than other areas. These thyroid problems are unlikely to be connected to Fukushima accident...
