200+ bundles removed... yet the world is still here?
And no news of fuel racks crushed like a pack of cigarettes or stuck/broken assemblies?
What a shock!

I'm sure that corium will get down to the water table and give us that hydro volcanic explosion eventually. It isn't that it didn't happen... it just hasn't happened yet (~three years later).

(26,737 posts)What amazing luck that the "brittle to the point of crumbling" assemblies have magically been avoided so far.

(26,737 posts)Who knew there were so many "easy ones" ? Even poor Arnie had to shift over to talking about Unit #3. He should be able to milk that one for at least a year.

(51,076 posts)I don't think anyone here was hoping for a failure in this. I know I'm hoping for a 100% success story.
I also suspect that if there are any crushed like a pack of cigarettes that they'd remove all those that weren't crushed like a pack of cigarettes to help make it possible to remove those that are crushed like a pack of cigarettes more easily. Wouldn't you think?
I'd say its a little early to be counting chickens just yet though, wouldn't you think
Not in the first sentence of course... I doubt that anyone apart from a handful of the nuttiest actually wants them to fail.
The point is that there was never any evidence that any of that was true. It was an entirely fabricated story concocted to allow people to fear that the worst was yet to come (as was the "unit 4 is on the verge of collapse!" nonsense.
If you claim that a like of passengers disembarking a ship contains two aliens that will take over the world... you look no less silly by claiming "well... of course they'll hang back in the crowd" when 20% of the passengers are off and no incidents have yet occurred. Nothing changes the fact that the story wasn't plausible in the first place.
The magnificent thing for the true believer is that this spin can last for years. "Now comes the really hard part" can be repeated over and over and over again... while ignoring reality. Arnie will blissfully switch over to lining his pockets with claims that the spent fuel in #3 will be more difficult (which, of course, it will)... while never dealing with his earlier claims that there was a nuclear explosion in that pool.

(51,076 posts)Thats why I don't even bother with you, sorry.
Geeze
You're the one that brought it up and I was simply making light of it
What I said about if there was and what they most likely would do has some merit though. I know if it was left up to me I'd go that route

(26,737 posts)What did you expect?
madokie
(51,076 posts)Oh I expected as much, that I damn sure did. I've seen how you work these pages since day one, to be honest with you.
Actually you've durn near got it down to a science

(51,076 posts)I've read a lot of scientist who are against nuclear energy in any form. Being pro nuclear is a choice a person makes as is being anti nuclear. The mistake you make is thinking you are superior to us due to the stance you take when in reality we see you the same as you see us. How many other forms of producing energy has cordoned off vast areas of land. If the prevailing winds weren't out to see in Fukushima there would be a much larger area cordoned off. That you can take to the bank.
Nor is it the reality check you imply. Nuclear is very dangerous and is not necessary in todays technological world.
Shit happens and its called Chernobyl, Fukushima, with a close call at Three Mile Island, at Davis Besse as well as Vermont Yankee. Yes those last three were close calls
pamw and now Altair_IV. You're not fooling anyone around here you can bet on that. Two totally different people don't have the same writing style, On the other hand two totally different moniker's who happen to be the same person does
I give you this you do know propaganda as you engage in it quiet well
FBaggins
(26,737 posts)But in both cases, it's pretty darn close.
Certainly closer than this nonsense that liberals are anti-nuclear and conservatives are pro-nuclear... or that those of us who are pro-nuclear are also necessarily anti-renewables.
But the overlap between those who accept the nonsense of Busby/Caldicott/Gundersen/enenews/godlikeproduction/etc... and those who are just this side of scientifically clueless is near 100% (to several decimal places).
Whats that got to do with anything I said? My opinions of nuclear has nothing to do with anything any of those people say, fyi.
I go back a long way in this having fought PSO from siting a nuclear power plant near here that we ultimately shut them down and all the bullshit lies they told us back then and how the same lies by the nuclear industry are still thrown out today
While you're at it lets hear what you have to say about me since you are replying to me. I want to see where you put me in this bullshit category you just typed
I like the way you are so quick to turn to personal insults with your replies. Little man behind a big keyboard is how it reads
BTW will you jump in Altair_IV's grave too?
FBaggins
(26,737 posts)Your opinion on nuclear power in general certainly predates most of their nonsense... but whether you're using them as a source or not, you've certainly buying much of the nonsense that they're selling.
While you're at it lets hear what you have to say about me since you are replying to me. I want to see where you put me in this bullshit category you just typed
Buying... not necessarily selling (except as a kneejerk response to oppose anything a pro-nuclear member says).
I like the way you are so quick to turn to personal insults with your replies.
That's your imagination. Particularly entertaining given your own predilection for such insults.
BTW will you jump in Altair_IV's grave too?
???
madokie
(51,076 posts)Thats a question to you
I don't suffer fools gladly dude so take your trivial bullshit elsewhere as I'm done with you
FBaggins
(26,737 posts)I don't intend to jump in anyone's grave.
And how would I do so? By correcting you?
madokie
(51,076 posts)so my question is will you jump in her grave for her
Its an old saying that goes back I guess longer than you are old if you've not heard it. Its used when someone will jump in to defend someone like you do her/him, whichever the case is
I'd say that's all in your imagination.
I corrected your error.
Its an old saying that goes back I guess longer than you are old if you've not heard it. Its used when someone will jump in to defend someone like you do her/him, whichever the case is
I understand the saying... what I don't see is how it applies.
If I understand who you think the new poster is, I wasn't somone who jumped to defend him/her previously. The parts I agreed with (the science) didn't need defending... the part that needed defending (constant use of CAPS!!!! etc) wasn't something that I'm inclined to defend. I corrected her on it more than once (while entirely respecting someone who clearly had more scientific understanding).

(26,737 posts)Who knew that you could crush a pack of cigarettes and yet leave over half of the ciragrettes undamaged? Looks like your hoped-for result is more and more likely, eh?
madokie
(51,076 posts)Until they're all done.
FBaggins
(26,737 posts)But this isn't a celebration. It's really just laughter at the nuts who pretended that they had a clue what was going on (Gunderson, etc)... and a little pity for the good folks who fell for what they were selling.
madokie
(51,076 posts)I know if it was me I'd go for the easier to retrieve ones first. I don't know if they have the option to do that or not but if they do I'm sure they have. At any rate this is success so far, as far as I'm concerned. I'll not rest completely until the last one is secured in a safe container.
I'll do the happy dance when they finish this job
