Reno area broke power use record on Monday [07/14/14]

Northern Nevada didn’t just break a high temperature record Monday.

It broke the previous single-day record for power usage set July 17, 2007 when 1,743 megawatts were used, NV Energy said.

On Monday, NV Energy’s 327,000 customers in Northern Nevada used 1,761 megawatts, and actually received electricity from southern Nevada...

Reno hit a record high of 105 on Monday, which was four degrees above Las Vegas’ high of 101, according to the national weather service.

So, on Monday, for the first time ever, Northern Nevada received electricity from southern Nevada during the summer, Andersen said. - RGJ.COM
The previous temperature record for Reno for that date was 103° set in 1972 and is an all time high record temperature (for that date).

What is never reported on is that the average low temperature, which maxes out at 52° at this time of year is being consistently eclipsed by between 7 - 15° every day. To give you an idea of how much warmer it is during the morning, the next 10 days forecast low temps will be 68, 66, 64, 60, 60, 61, 62, 64, 65, 67, all above average. This has been going on for as long as I can remember for all seasons of the year.
